When you tow your rear-wheel drive car, van, pickup or SUV the driveshaft to the rear axle must be disconnected to prevent damage to the automatic transmission. Remco's drive shaft coupling was developed to provide a quick and easy means of disconnecting the transmission while sitting in the driver's seat.
The coupling (mechanical clutch) is installed into the rear portion of the vehicle's driveshaft near the rear axle. When disconnected the rear axle is free to turn without the driveshaft or transmission. The coupling has a control cable attached to it which extends to a location under the driver's seat. This control cable is pulled out to disengage for towing and pushed in to engage for driving the car after disconnect.
The Lube Pump is conveniently located under the engine hood, draws transmission fluid from the pan then pumps to the selector valve. This valve directs the fluid through the radiator cooler then into the lubrication system. Remco's Lube Pump is powered from the motorhome's battery and fed into a small electronic monitor.
The electronic monitor mounted near the motorhome's driver's seat has lights and an audible alarm that will alert the operator of any problems in the lubrication system including failure to turn the system on or if you forget to connect the electrical plug to the car.
One coiled electrical cable between the motorhome and car provides all the circuits for the pump, monitor and vehicle tail lights. For added conveniences Remco has included a tail light diverter. Packet diverters automatically switch the car's tail light system to towing each time you hook up.
