Can I install this at home, or do I need a certified mechanic?
The EcoHitch for the 2018 - 2024 Audi Q5 & Audi SQ5 is a bolt-on installation. If you are comfortable removing and reinstalling the rear bumper, you can install the EcoHitch. Customer Reviews
The installation video is exceptional with a couple very minor differences which may be due to different trim levels between my car and the one in the video. There is a wiring harness in the bumper fascia that is clipped to the car frame above the driver-side tail pipe and those clips need to be removed to get the fascia off. Also, I did not need to modify the heat shield as was done in the video.
Overall, it took about 3 hours to do the install and I've never done anything like this before.
The reason for the deduction of 1 star is due to the washers that are provided are not compatible with high or even medium torque applications. The washers deformed as if they were made of plastic. Instead, I used the factory hardware with a bit of blue Loctite.
Also can confirm that the SQ5 bumper does not need to be trimmed, but I discovered this after trimming it a bit sadly. I did the install by myself, having a helper when re-fitting the bumper cover would have made this a lot easier and negated the need for trimming.
