FastGun Apex - Quick Disconnect Torklift Camper Turnbuckles

IN STOCK

*Patent Pending

FastGun Apex spring-loaded camper turnbuckles connect your camper to compatible frame-mounted Inboard or Outboard tie downs. The threaded hook bolt adjusts the reach from 19.5" to 41.25" to accomodate a range of set ups including Inboard and Outboard tie down set ups. A quick-disconnect handle makes loading and unloading easier, while the visible spring-tension indicator ensures your turnbuckles are set properly and they stay that way. Together, the secure connection and spring-loaded design dramatically reduce camper shift and stress on camper anchor points. Made in the USA. Backed by Torklift’s Legendary Lifetime Warranty.

FastGun Apex is lockable with FastGun Apex Locks, sold separately.

Kit includes Two turnbuckles. Two sets are required to secure a camper at all four anchor points.

Applicable to Outpost Campers, Nucamp Campers, Northern Lite Campers, Scout Campers and Soaring Eagle Campers only: If you are replacing ratchet straps on an in bed truck camper application, you will need Anchor Point Adapter Brackets in order to use FastGun Apex turnbuckles.

Why Camper Shift Matters

A loaded truck camper experiences changing forces as the truck accelerates, brakes, turns, and travels over uneven roads. If the camper is not held securely, it can shift within the bed. That movement may damage the truck bed or camper anchor points and affect how the truck and camper handle together.

Ratchet straps are commonly used to secure campers with in-bed anchor points. As a load settles and moves, straps can lose tension and require frequent checks and readjustment. FastGun Apex provides a spring-loaded, adjustable connection with a visible tension indicator to help maintain the specified tension and reduce camper movement. Check your connections regularly and follow the camper and turnbuckle instructions.

Inboard vs. Outboard Tie Downs

The camper’s anchor-point location determines which tie-down arrangement it uses:

  • Inboard tie downs: The camper connects inside the truck bed. ApexAnchors bring frame-mounted anchor points up through the bed floor for this type of setup.

  • Outboard tie downs: The camper has external anchor points outside the truck bed. Traditional Torklift Outboard tie downs connect to the truck frame beneath the bed.

FastGun Apex turnbuckles can be used with either arrangement when the anchor connections are compatible and the 19.5" to 41.25" reach fits your setup. If you are unsure which arrangement your camper uses, call Torklift at 800-246-8132 before ordering.

Defining a Dynamic Load

The ApexAnchors Internal Frame-mounted payload anchor system is designed to haul dynamic loads. By definition, a dynamic load refers to the forces that act on a structure or object that change over time. Unlike static loads which remain constant and unchanged, dynamic loads vary in magnitude, direction, and point of application. In our case, a dynamic load would refer to a truck camper loaded in the truck bed. Failure to properly secure dynamic loads can result unsafe or unstable handling and possible damage to truck and camper.

Payload Anchor Points vs. Cargo Anchor Points

The standard cargo anchor points provided by truck manufacturers are intended for light, temporary use. These cargo anchor points are typically not assigned a weight rating and are installed directly onto the truck bed. The truck bed itself is not designed to bear significant loads, especially over prolonged periods.

In contrast, Torklift offers an essential upgrade with our maximum payload anchor point system. These heavy-duty anchor points are bolted directly to the truck's frame, ensuring they can handle substantial loads with a high center of gravity like a truck camper. Our payload anchor points provide a secure, reliable connection, designed to support heavy-duty applications and long-term use.

Importance of Spring-Loaded Turnbuckle System

When looking at dynamic loads, it is important to take into consideration why a spring-loaded turnbuckle system is so key to avoid truck or truck camper damage. For comparison, when looking at constructing buildings there are seismic building codes in place to protect the building from structural damage. A crucial part of this is allowing controlled movement in the building to minimize earthquake damage. The same goes with your truck camper.  The spring-loaded turnbuckles allow for a secure connection between anchor points while allowing for just enough flexibility to protect your camper from fractures or long term damage.
