Choose the right towing method
A tow dolly can fill the gap when flat towing is not an option.
Four-down towing is convenient when the vehicle is approved for it, but many vehicles are not. A tow dolly gives some owners another way to bring a vehicle behind the motorhome without moving all four tires on the road.
An alternative for some non-flat-towable vehicles.
A tow dolly may work when the vehicle is not approved for four-down towing but is specifically approved for dolly towing. It can also avoid installing a permanent baseplate on the towed vehicle.

Here are answers to common questions about compatibility, flat-tow alternatives, brakes, wiring, loading and towing limits.
Can every vehicle be towed on a tow dolly?
No. Tow-dolly eligibility depends on the vehicle manufacturer's towing instructions, drivetrain, steering requirements, curb weight, tire size, wheel track, ground clearance and the tow dolly's limits.
Can a tow dolly be an alternative if my vehicle cannot be flat towed?
Sometimes. A tow dolly can be a good alternative for certain vehicles that are not approved for four-down flat towing, but only when the vehicle manufacturer permits dolly towing and the complete setup meets the dolly, hitch, tow-vehicle and vehicle requirements.
What do you check before setting up a tow dolly?
We review the motorhome or tow vehicle, receiver and hitch ratings, tow rating and GCWR, dolly capacity, coupler and ball size, brakes, breakaway system, lights, wiring, tires, wheel pans, tire straps, safety chains, loading angle, turning clearance and the towed vehicle's instructions.
Does a tow dolly need brakes?
Brake and breakaway requirements depend on the tow dolly, loaded weight, motorhome or tow vehicle, manufacturer instructions and applicable laws. We review the complete setup before recommending equipment.
Can you install tow dolly wiring and lighting?
Yes. We can review and install compatible tow dolly lighting, connectors, wiring, grounds, brake wiring and breakaway wiring when appropriate for the system.
How is the towed vehicle secured?
The approved wheels are positioned in the dolly wheel pans and secured with the correct tire straps or manufacturer-approved restraints. Safety chains or secondary securement are attached as directed by the equipment manufacturer.
Can I back up with a loaded tow dolly?
Backing a loaded tow dolly can be difficult and may be restricted by the dolly or vehicle manufacturer. Follow the product instructions and plan routes and parking to minimize backing when required.
Does a tow dolly increase towing capacity?
No. A tow dolly does not increase the motorhome or tow vehicle's towing capacity, GCWR, hitch rating, receiver rating, axle ratings, tire ratings, wheel ratings or any other manufacturer limit.
