The EcoHitch for the 2014 - 2018 Mazda 3 Sedan is a bolt-on and does not require the bumper to be removed for installation. Only standard hand tools are needed. Read the instructions carefully and you'll have no problem installing it. The tool I mentioned is a wire with a spring on the end. Though it's not used as a spring, it's used to thread the bolt onto it so you can pull it and the backing plate through the hole in the frame to reach the other side. Ingenious way of doing this.
Everything is included with the kit, even some edging to put around the cut out in the bottom of the bumper that the receiver pulls up to. Again, very well thought out.
We are very pleased with the robustness of the hitch and would definitely recommend this hitch to anyone thinking about putting one on their vehicle. After a year of use, I have nothing but positive things to say about the hitch. My son uses it quite frequently to carry his bike and carrier when he comes home and the hitch has been flawless. We really like the hidden design of the hitch. It truly feels like its part of the car and was a factory install. If youre on the fence about this hitch, Id pull the trigger and get it.
PS removing the bumper is easy, it's just screw and clips just read the instructions since there is pictures and anyone can do it.
