Can you spot the deer?

There’s nothing more exciting than going on that hunting trip that you have planned every year with your family or friends. Whether it’s just a weekend, a week or a couple of weeks, you have to make sure that you are prepared before leaving. Of course, there are the biggest and most obvious items that you can’t leave behind including your gun and hunting pack, but that aside, there are a lot of things that you shouldn’t forget before heading out.

Below are the top 7 things that you can’t leave home before you go on your hunting trip, especially if you are bringing your truck camper or towing behind a vehicle. At Torklift Central we have what you need to outfit yourself before your big hunting trip.

1. Your Camera/Smart Phone
Who doesn’t love documenting the memories that you are making, especially if you are going on a hunting trip with friends and family. How many trips have you planned, packed and then unpacked at your destination but realized that you left your camera at home? You spent your time and money on this trip, so why not take pictures so you can cherish the memories forever. So make sure you pack it, along with a case to keep it safe and extra batteries in case it runs out of juice.

2. Extra Storage

Torklift International PowerArmor
The HiddenPower, for all your battery storage needs

Before you go on your incredible hunting trip, don’t forget to bring extra storage and batteries.  That way you won’t have to worry about room when you’re bringing everything back. A good example of some great extra storage is the HiddenPower by Torklift International. Instead of wasting space, the HiddenPower allows you to bring extra batteries to power your accessories, truck camper, flood lights, and more. The HiddenPower is installed underneath your vehicle and attaches to your truck frame with no installation necessary.

If you tow a trailer while hauling your truck camper, mount the Torklift International PowerArmor Solar battery box directly to your trailer tongue. The PowerArmor box is available in multiple sizes, prevents common and expensive battery theft with a lock that's included, keeps batteries healthy and also has the space to store other gear.

3. Tire Pressure Gauge
If you haven’t taken your trailer out for a while, you should definitely be checking your tire pressure before towing anything heavy. Driving a fully loaded trailer with under-inflated tires is dangerous and can lead to blowouts and axle damage. It’s also good to check your tire pressure while you are on your hunting trip especially if you are driving a long distance, just to make sure that your pressure stays steady throughout the whole trip.

4. Hitch Mounted Cargo Rack

Who doesn’t love extra storage? The more storage you have, the more you can bring with you to make your trip that much easier. A hitch mounted cargo rack is a good thing to bring on your hunting trip because it can be used for many different purposes and bring lots of stuff with you including firewood, coolers, luggage, camping gear, generators, and more.

5. Medical Supplies
Although no one wants to think about it, there are always injuries that can happen when you’re hunting. Hopefully if something goes wrong, it’s minor and can easily be attended to with a basic medical kit. Some things that your kit should include: prescription medicines, Band-Aids/gauze, disinfectant, headache medicine, sunscreen, cough drops, fever thermometer, lip balm, insect repellant and more. Of course, you can always customize what you bring based off of your previous trips and what you think you need.

6. Additional Propane
No one likes a chilly truck camper. If you want to be able to sleep well so you are bright eyed and bushy tailed for your hunting adventures the next morning, it’s good to make sure you fill up on propane and bring some extra with you, especially if you are going to be gone for a long hunting trip. Make sure that your propane stays safe from theft by locking up your tanks with the Fortress GasLock as well.

7. Miscellaneous Items
While the other 6 on the list are essentials that you need to make sure that your hunting trip is as fun, safe and easy as it can be, there are also plenty of other items that are great to bring to make your trip even more safe. Some other great things to make sure you have packed before you leave for your big hunting trip:

Generator
Tarps
Chairs
Firewood
Lighting
Fuel Cans
