They reached out to us with a unique challenge: crafting a custom winch spare tire mount for their big rig, designed to handle 42” military tires.

Torklift: What made you want to buy a big rig?
Peter: We do much of our traveling in the mountains in the wintertime. We wanted a rig that was 4-season winterized, capable and safe for driving in the snow.
Torklift: How long have you been traveling in rigs like these?
Peter: Last winter marked our 4th year traveling in the Overlander.
Torklift: What is your favorite part about camping/boondocking/traveling this way?
Peter: The ability to go just about anywhere you want, and stay in comfort as long as you want. Getting out of campgrounds and RV parks and being able to park out in remote locations is the best. Being self-contained and having everything we need allows us to travel and camp for longer stretches of time.
Torklift: Where did you hear about Torklift Central?
Peter: Our factory hitch is a Torklift SuperHitch. I met the Torklift guys at Overland Expo and they said they could build, weld, and fabricate anything I wanted to improve my rig.
Torklift: Can you share your thoughts on the upgrades that we’ve added to your camper?
Peter: Your team is resourceful and creative in their designs, and the build is rock solid. Nobody makes an 'off the shelf' tire carrier for our big 42” military tires, so your team invented one for us."
Torklift: Anything else that you’d like to add that you think readers would be interested in?
Peter: We liked our RV so much, we bought another one just like it and did all the same upgrades as our original Overlander. It’s a turn-key adventure machine that is currently for rent and/or for sale.
The upgrades don’t stop there. This Overlander will soon be equipped with a custom battery box which will further enhance the ability to stay powered up during the extended stays in remote locations.
