If you’ve ever looked at your sleek, luxurious Lucid Air and thought, “Could this EV haul a bike rack or tow a small trailer?”, you’re not alone. As electric vehicle adoption accelerates, so does the need for EV-compatible towing solutions. That’s where EcoHitch for the 2022–2026 Lucid Air (part #X5010s) comes in.

We recently sat down with a Lucid owner who shared why he wanted to add a hitch to his electric dream car. His story inspired us to create a new behind-the-scenes video that not only covers his reasons for upgrading, but also shows how our team designs, engineers, and manufactures a custom hitch solution for high-performance EVs like the Lucid Air.

Why Add a Hitch to a Lucid Air?

The Lucid Air was designed with performance, range, and refinement in mind, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add versatility too. Whether you’re hauling bikes, camping gear, a cargo tray, or planning a weekend getaway, a hitch opens up new possibilities.

With EcoHitch, you don’t have to compromise on design or function:

  • Completely hidden cross tube
  • Angled receiver for superior ground clearance
  • Patent-pending stainless steel receiver that will never rust,  no more driveway stains!
  • 400 lb tongue weight and 4,000 lb tow rating, perfect for e-bikes, gear racks, or lightweight utility trailers
  • No drilling or adapter plates required

Built for EV Compatibility

The Lucid Air is unlike any other vehicle on the market. Its sleek aerodynamics, advanced tech, and electric drivetrain meant a traditional hitch wouldn't cut it.

To engineer part #X5010s, our team:

  • Laser scanned a Lucid Air to precisely map the underbody
  • Designed a hitch that maximizes strength and clearance
  • Fabricated every component in-house with premium materials
  • Tested it for compliance with SAE J684 towing standards

All of this ensures that EcoHitch integrates cleanly, performs reliably, and keeps your vehicle’s form and function intact.

Lucid Air Towing & Hitch FAQ

Below are the most common questions we’ve received from Lucid owners, answered with real-world context and expert insights.

Can the Lucid Air Tow?

Lucid does not officially rate the Air for towing. However, many owners install a hitch for non-trailer purposes like bike racks or cargo trays. EcoHitch is designed for accessory towing, not for pulling heavy trailers.

What is the Tongue Weight Rating of the EcoHitch for Lucid Air?

The X5010s EcoHitch is rated for 400 lbs tongue weight, the highest available for this platform. That means it can easily handle e-bikes, carriers, coolers, and adventure gear.

Will the EcoHitch affect range or performance?

Because of its concealed design, the EcoHitch has minimal to no impact on range or aerodynamics. If you’re adding a rack or trailer, any range change would come from the payload itself, not the hitch.

Can I install it myself?

Yes! Many DIYers with the right tools have successfully installed EcoHitch units.

Is it compatible with accessories I already own?

Yes. The 2” stainless steel receiver works with virtually all standard bike racks, trays, and hitch-mounted accessories. No adapters = no rattle, noise, or risk of damage.

What about rust and long-term durability?

This hitch is made with patent-pending stainless steel receiver a first of its kind. It’s designed to eliminate corrosion, protect your garage and driveway from rust stains, and look good while doing it.
