Announcing the Turkey Challenge in 2014

There are many great City of Kent events that you can find on the Chamber of Commerce event calendar. Another great community event is happening this month that is being put on to bring the community and businesses of Kent together. In an effort to fight hunger and make the annual Kent Turkey Challenge an incredibly successful holiday food drive, Mayor Suzette Cooke will read a proclamation during the Kent City Council meeting tonight at 7 pm.

Below is more information about the the proclamation, the Kent Business Expo and the 5th Annual Kent Turkey Challenge. Make sure to mark your calendars for tonight and come see us at these awesome events.

The Annual Kent Turkey Challenge
Every year the annual Kent Turkey Challenge in Kent, Wash. grows in popularity and competition between the local businesses and organizations involved. A friendly competition, the annual Kent Turkey Challenge is to see who can collect and raise the most food and monetary donations for the Kent Food Bank. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this charity are given to local Kent families that are combating hunger and poverty during the holiday season. We will come drop off boxes to your business then pick up all donations on Nov. 18-19.

Join us in the fight against hunger
We are asking you for your support to make the 5th Annual Kent Turkey Challenge the best one to date. As a community service, this is an opportunity for us to make a lasting positive impact in the lives of families who are searching for hope during the holiday season and making it so no one is turned away from the Kent Food Bank because of lack of food. We have a goal of raising $25,000 and 10,000 pounds of food for this Kent food drive. Over the past four years the annual Kent Turkey Challenge has raised a total of $56,560 and 16,804 pounds of food and with your help we can make that number keep rising.

With your help, we can reach our fifth anniversary goal that every family in our community will be able to share a special holiday meal and that no household should go hungry on Thanksgiving.
