We know that sometimes it can be hard to remember to bring in your trailers for a trailer bearing repack but we cannot stress enough how important it is. At Torklift Central we suggest bringing in your trailers at least once a year for a trailer safety inspection and bearing repack. Trailer manufacturers recommend this as well.

Bearing failure is the number one cause of trailer breakdown, but is one of the easiest and most affordable to prevent. Here’s what your bearings should not look like:

As you can see, the outside of the bearing has disintegrated and can tell that the trailer components have been overheating and breaking down the rims. This is inevitable and 100% avoidable. Also, because we live in the Pacific Northwest and there is a lot of water and rain, rust can be a major issue with trailer bearing breakdown.  Here’s a photo instead of what your trailer bearings and brakes should look like:

We also offer a FREE, 10 point safety inspection so you can bring your trailer in and we can let you know what needs to be repaired on your trailer. Our inspection includes checks on the following:

  • Breakaway system
  • Bearing tension
  • Tire and air pressure
  • Suspension
  • Lights
  • Braking system
  • Grease fittings
  • Ball coupler
  • Safety chains
  • Chassis and frame
