The season of giving is just around the corner, and with it comes one of Kent's favorite community traditions --- the Kent Turkey Challenge! Starting Sunday, September 28, 2025, Torklift Central is thrilled to launch the 13th Annual Turkey Challenge, once again partnering with Kent United Methodist Church to support the Kent Food Bank's Thanksgiving meal program.
For more than a decade, this friendly competition has brought together local businesses, schools, faith communities, and organizations to ensure that families across Kent enjoy a holiday table filled with food and love.
A Tradition of Giving Back
The Turkey Challenge first began as a way to unite our community in support of the Kent Food Bank. Relaunched in partnership with Kent United Methodist Church in 2024, the Challenge continues to grow in impact each year --- helping provide Thanksgiving meals and ongoing support for families in need.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our neighbors and local businesses, last year's 12th Annual Turkey Challenge brought in 2,750 pounds of food and $12,411 in donations. That's thousands of meals and countless smiles shared around holiday tables right here in Kent.
How It Works
Participating organizations set up donation bins for nonperishable food and encourage customers, members, and employees to contribute. Monetary donations are also welcomed and go even further, thanks to the Kent Food Bank's ability to stretch dollars for bulk food purchases.
To make things extra fun, a leaderboard recognizes the top contributors and inspires a little friendly competition between groups. Every can, every dollar, and every effort counts toward making sure local families can celebrate Thanksgiving with dignity and joy.
